We, the citizens of the world, declare our commitment to creating a sustainable future for all.
We acknowledge the destruction of nature by humans, which has led to rising CO2 levels and temperatures, melting glaciers, and polluted soil and oceans. The global supply chain, transportation, and deforestation have exacerbated these problems. We recognise that over 50% of the world’s population lives in urban areas, with this number expected to reach 75% by 2050. The building industry is responsible for 40% of greenhouse gas emissions, primarily from the embodied energy of the buildings themselves.
